We just returned from a 7 night stay at the Gaylord Palms and we are ready to return. The property was beautiful and lots of fun to walk through on our way to and from our competition. The food was a little pricey for a stay as long as ours but we didn't come across 1 person that was not friendly and helpful. They made you feel like you were welcomed and that they were glad you were there. These days that is hard to come across. We hope our next competition is at the Gaylord Palms again!!! Kudos!
We attended the FAMB Trade Show and Convention at the Gaylord on 7/19/08, and several of us agreed to meet at the Key West Restaurant afterwards. We were greeted pleasantly, but it went rapidly downhill from there.
Three of our party sat at a table that had not been bussed, and were shortly thereafter told that we could not sit there, but could only sit at the bar.
We complied and found three seats together, whereupon we sat, and sat, and sat! The seats were right in front of the cash register, and on two occasions, a Server came by to ring up a sale.
Upon the appearance of the second Server, we asked if we could please order. This young lady, Nina, completely ignored us though she could well hear our request. She did not look up, nor smile, nor apologize for our wait, nor say that we would be served shortly, nor in ANY way acknowledge our presence!
It has been a long time since I have been so rudely treated, and shown such affrontery by wait staff.
We then left and met our main group who were just arriving at the restaurant. We told them of our immediate past experience, and we all decided to leave the property and dine in Orlando.
I take satisfaction in the thought that this restaurant lost a $2,000 dinner bill, though one of Nina's fellow Servers unfortunately lost the $300-$400 tip that would have gone with it, due to her total indifference.
Beautiful: This place was fantastic. I was there for one night on business, and loved it. The only problem is the monopoly. There are restaurants and stores and most everything you need right there, are there is VERY LITTLE directly surrounding the resort. In short, the neighborhood is non-existent, but you'd never want to leave anyway.
