It also serves approximately 4,200 natural gas customers. The authority operates power generation, water operations, water resources, fiber optics and communications, and administrative and service departments. The Fort Pierce Utilities Authority also administers an electric engineering department that is responsible for the engineering, designing, permitting, inspection and construction management of power generation, electric transmission and distribution systems. Its gas operations department supplies natural gas for residential and commercial customers for cooking and heating. The authority provides Internet, outdoor lighting and gas generator installation services.
