This little whole in the wall Cafe has thee best food. We always make this our 1st stop whenever returning to the island. They have this Mango Curry Chicken salad that is to die for!!!! I could only imagine how good dinner would be if they ever decided to stay open later!

    i heart the Islander Cafe!!!!!!

Bahamian type decor, with lots of photographs pinned to the walls. The pix are of various events, Chef Eric's recent travels to the Bahamas and Europe, and people who inhabit this establishment, including Chef Eric [the owner]. A wonderful place for breakfast and lunch. Chef Eric opens at 7:30 AM and usually closes at 2 PM [except Sundays at noon]; closed Mondays.

The breakfast menu has the usual eggs, pancakes, but Chef Eric has several unique items. One, his Fantasy French Toast, comes with seasonal fresh fruit over the French toast with a sprinkling of confectioner's sugar. There is also his Eggs Benedict made with his fresh daily Key Lime Hollandaise Sauce, served with choice of ham, smoked salmon or plain. One learns quickly that Chef Eric cannot count too well; his two egg dishes look like he uses four eggs. There at least two dishes named after customers, Kenny's Green Eggs & Ham and Steve's Mess. These came about from customers who were in a hurry and put everything into one dish. There is also Eric's Ranchero Huevos Breakfast Wrap for those who like it hot [spicy]. He also prepares a simple breakfast wrap of scrambled eggs with bacon or sausage. Many customers enjoy a bagel with smoked salmon.

Lunch usually presents at least two daily specials in addition to the regular menu of Hamburgers [8 oz.] with many toppings available; e.g., bacon, cheeses, tomato, lettuce, spinach. Invariably, there is also a freshly made soup of the day. Chef Eric makes a fabulous Grouper Salad as well as a Grouper Wrap. He has at least four daily lunch specials in addition to salads, sandwiches and wraps on his regular menu.

Prices are very moderate considering the sizes of the portions. All this is served by the efficient Sandy, a real pro of a waitress!

A fantastic place to enjoy really good food.
