User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsMy son and his family who has left their home in South Lousiana, are now driving all night; instead of staying at Sheraton Birmingham Hotel because I made the reservations on-line which are not refundible. The problem is: a dog must be under 80 lbs to be able to stay in their hotel and of course my son's dog is around 90 lbs. Being honest I told the hotel how much the dog weighs and was told that I should have read the restrictions before placing the reservation. Now after being charged $159.19, I will not be able to afford another hotel. You would think that after hearing that the emergency of having to leave your home that this hotel care....
I will never stay at another Sheraton Hotel.-

Most of the staff at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel are not friendly! My wedding is August 9, 2008 and scheduled to be held in a room at the Sheration Birmingham Hotel. I booked the location in February 2008. In february, I requested a price quote of everthing that I wanted for my special day from the catering manager. Now, it is three weeks before the wedding The catering manager has just emailed me a quote. Secondly, I wanted a 20x20 dance floor, but the catering manager said you can only have size in the ballroom and with 125 guests that I'm inviting a smaller size will be fine. Thirdly, this person is adding salads meals that I did not request.

Out to Overcharge You: This Hotel charges a 50.00 "incidental fee" that is NOT stated up front and then pay themselves then "reimburse" you at their convenience. This is NOT shown on the bill they provide you at your door. This can compromise your check card, or your credit card. I am a goverment employee on a perdiemm this is a terrible burden, especially when unexpected.
Room Service is terrible, the food was cold and burned, in addition it was not stated there was a 2.00 UPCHARGE for delivery to the room.
The taxes on the room ran 10.00 over stated rate, this is not given up front the amount this is. Most hotels include taxes in their rates. 10.00 is a major difference per night.
Lack of amenities...the remote didn't work, had to get another, ice machine didn't work. No fridge, no microwave. In other words you have to eat in the overcharging restaurants, and in an area that you can not walk to other choices.
Parking Garage is an extra, not included with room rate as an ammenity as many hotels do.
To many escalators that run tooo fast for older folks to attempt, especially down. To far to walk to anything.
I do have to say, the bellhop that assisted me with my luggage out of this prison was wonderful. The girl that brought me my in room service, was cordial, however she had NO idea about the horrible food order, as she didn't look before coming.
At the rates one has to pay, this is disgusting, and if I have to drive back and forth to my conference in the future I will, or if feel I can not, will stay elsewhere and drive in B'ham to the conference as much as I hate to do that.
