| About: | Located on Green Springs Highway just north of Valley Avenue, Renge is easily the most authentic Japanese restaurant in Birmingham. The decor is typical Japanese (although there are chairs and tables, and you can leave your shoes on) with several small dining rooms and a sushi bar. The menu offers sushi, soup noodles and many other traditional Japanese dishes. The service is friendly, yet reserved. |

You Will CRAVE It Later, Simply the Best!: First of all, you need to eat at the tepen tables. This requires a reservation and is rather pricey, but is completely worth it. Watching the chef work with the tepen table is fun, flinging food all over the place, but the real reason you're there is to eat. Order anything you like; it's all good. I would highly reccomend something with scallops for non-vegetarians. Children get "learner's" chopsticks, which have a little piece of paper banded in between them with a rubber band for easy use. You will dream about this stuff, and there is absolutely no substitute for the experience.
A suprisingly great place to eat!: I recently visited Renge' on Greenspring Hwy in Birmignham and I was surprised how great it really was. You wouldn't really think much of it from the outside, but it is very nice once insude. This is one of the few Japanese resturants that looks authentic with its atmosphere and has a greater variety of authentic Japanese food. I would recomend that anyone who loves sushi or Japanese food to give this one a try. By the way, it is much cheaper than many other places in the city.
