| About: | Located downtown in the historic Tutwiler Hotel, the Grille serves Continental and American cuisine in a very elegant atmosphere. The decor is in keeping with its location in one of the most glamorous hotels in the state, with exquisite antique furnishings, plush carpet and chandeliers. The menu, though small, offers such mouth-watering items as large steaks, Chicken Moutarde, prime rib and grilled fish. The desserts are famous. The bar is a wonderful place to enjoy a Martini or a fine cognac. |

"G"reat atmosphere!: This restaurant gives a sophisticated vibe, mixed with a sultry feel, spiced with a dash of sexy, and topped with great food and great service.
I would recommend anyone go there for dinner... and if you are having a small gathering... G is the place to be!
Really okay: The service was great, the ambiance was lovely, the presentation of the meal was wonderful and the recipe was great, but the food was a bit over cooked, i got the salmon and it was not fresh at all. if i went for just drinks it would have been a 5 star.
Knows how to take care of people!: This past weekend was the 7th annual Sidewalk Film Festival in downtown Birmingham. I was working with the volunteer cooridinator. We set up our table to sign in volunteers right next to Restaurant G's nice patio. We also had a merchandise table set up there. When the winds from Hurricane Rita blew through, nearly everything we had blew into the streets. Restaurant G helped us out by opening their patio to us, giving us a little more stability. They had also opened their doors early for us so we would have restroom facilities and such.
I have to admit to never having eaten there before, as it is an upscale type of resturant and currently out of my price range, me being unemployed. McDonald's is just about out of my price range. :-) They also cooked and served food to ALL of our Sidewalk volunteers. They gave us several choices. I chose a barbeque sandwich which is not on their normal menu, but was EXCELLENT. The volunteer cooridinator chose the Blue Black Burger, which is on their menu, and said it too was excellent.
Restaurant G is a beautiful place, with three levels of dining rooms. They also had a small quartet playing on the first level, they were very good. I'm not sure whether this is an ongoing thing, or whether it was just for the Sidewalk crowd, but it gave an intimate feel. They also have an extensive wine list.
I will go back there, as the other food I saw patrons eating that evening looked most appetizing and smelled heavenly....
