I have never in my life had to go through the experience I did the other night by simply trying to pay a cashier. The rude, ill mannered, illiterate cashier that could not understand plain, simple math continued to argue and put the palm of her hand up in my face repeatedly. Our bill was $9.40. If you give a cashier $10.40 the change due is $1.00. That is as simple as it can be. Somehow, this totally illiterate woman could not understand that. How pathetic! I will not ever go to that restaurant again. With service like that they don't deserve to have anybody's business. I am still in absolute shock over the whole ordeal. I have never had a good experience from eating at this restaurant. I have tried several times eating there hoping it would be better the next time only to be totally disappointed. From the security guards telling me that I would have to move my car because I had sat there too long in the front of the building while I was waiting for my daughter to arrive, to the rude servers and their arguing (yelling at each other) right in front of everyone while doing their jobs, to the waitresses being very snippy if you ask for "Heaven forbid" more water. This is simply not a place that I want to ever go again. I have had all the insults and rude service I want from Niki's. Its a shame that the employees are of such a low grade because the food has been good, but what you have to go through, is simply not worth the trouble.
Hi,
I worked for Niki's West back in 2004 and I must say that it was the best employer I've had. My co-workers were genuinely good people to work with. My supervisor Ms. Ann was the best boss I've ever known. She was stern on us, but it kept us in line and we gave her our best service. Everybody loved Ms. Ann. She was a great cook and she taught me how to be a better cook. Off the record, she and I did'nt always see eye to eye, but let me tell you. If I had to work under any body, it would certainly be Ms. Anna Mae. Hey Ms. Ann. Thank you.
In closing, I would like to say that I really miss working for Niki's. Thank you superiors for giving me the opportunity to work for you.
P.S. I think it's wonderful that this company gives inmates a chance for a fresh start back in the real world. It's often hard for them to find employment once they get out, so Niki's bless you and your service to the inmates of our communities. May God forever prosper your business and the people who serve your company.
My SECOND review of Niki's West (looks like someone didn't like what I had to say the first time around). Others here have said things like "Fast paced steam table", and "Rude", "must have gotten their experience serving inmates at a state prison", and I couldn't agree more. The food is good, just steam table food, it's what you have to go through to get the average steam table food that makes Niki's West a sinking ship. First, when you park, you'll usually notice the "Security Guard" standing off in the corner with his eyes closed, then once you get inside and wade through the line to get to the serving line, the servers are very fast pace oriented and start asking you what you want before you can even see the food. Yeah, the have a "menu board", but because I see the selections in chalk, does not mean the food looks anything like the word does in my mind and I really would like to see what I am ordering.
And if you ask for a moment, then they all just sort of ignore you after that. When you do order something, they slop it in a bowl and practically shove/slide it at you across the elevated counter on top of the steam table hood. By the end of the line, you have a nice collection of little tiny bowls, all dripping with food running down the sides, YUMMY. You are then seated by "lifeless" drones, and if you get a waitress with a personality, consider yourself lucky.
It's then that you find out the food is just "average". But the big surprise awaits you at the check out counter. They usually have three women sitting there during peak rush, which is good, but I'm not sure if they are robots, or just uncaring folks. Well, I won't spoil the "surprise" for you at the end of the line at Niki's West, I'll let you post your own review.
And trust me, I have very fond memories of eating at Niki's West with my Grand Parents and family when I was a "young 'en", so it really pains me to write that it has turned into a rushed steam table hash house with just barely average food and cold robotic workers that have the empathy of a frozen fish. It really does, but that's the way I see it.
I could not agree with you more. I have never had an experience like I did simply trying to pay the cashier that could not understand plain simple math. The rude, sarcastic, ill mannered woman continued to argue and put the palm of her hand up in my face repeatedly. I have never in my life had to go through such an ordeal. I will not ever go to such a restaurant again. With service like that, they don't deserve anybody's business! I am still in absolute shock over the experience.
Tim, I have to agree with you. I visited Niki's on yesterday and I should have gone with my first mind and walked out! The servers were sooooo rude. If they are previous convicts, that explains that they have no manners and do not know how to work in public service. I did not get a chance to see what my choices were before they started harrassing me about what I wanted. I didn't know because I did not get a chance to see what was available. As you stated, there is a board, but they start yelling at you as soon as you approach the food counter. If you are undecided, they bring others around you and you loose site of your plate. I was not sure if what I requested was in my carry out box. In the end, it was not worth it for the way I was treated. Some one gave me a menu which would have been helpful to have when I first entered the building. This would have given me a little time to have an idea of what was being served for the day. Personally, I didn't think it was worth the trouble ( parking was a headache). I am glad to see I am not the only one who left feeling insulted by their service.
