Went last night and it was GREAT! (7-17-09) They are now only open on Friday & Saturday evenings. Huge seafood buffet. Fried Oysters and catfish fillets were the best!! Oysters biggest I've seen outside of Apalachicola, Fl. Whole catfish, shrimp, clams, chicken tenders, frog-legs, all excellent. Fried green tomatoes, collards, corn, all delish!! Crablegs, too. Service great. Will definitely go back!
This place is GREAT!!!!! We just went tonight with a party of 30 and everyone enjoyed it. The service was wonderful and so was the food. They have a good selection. They even have frog legs!!! Taste like chicken don't cha know! The creamed corn was some of the best I've ever had! The hushpuppies were to die for! I can't wait to go again. It was well worth the trip!! I give it 5 stars*****!
Best Southern Cooking at Butler's Mill: My experiences have been wonderful at Butler's Mill. Originally a cotton mill, Butler's Mill is now one of the best restaurants/buffets showcasing the best in Southern cuisine. It also has a good selection of seafood. Some of my favorites include: fried chicken tenders, fried fish, okra, collards, mac/cheese, a full salad bar, hush puppies, fried green tomatoes, fried dill pickles (excellent), and rolls with honey butter. If you're not sufficiently stuffed, one can indulge in homemade cobblers (the last time I frequented this establishment, there was peach and strawberry) and homemade ice cream. The quality of service is exemplary.
Because of the popularity of this place, it draws many people from both Alabama and Georgia. It's important to get there early. I've also enjoyed the seating close to the window to watch the river flow over the dam.
