We ate at Ed's for the first time on Oct. 1st and we were not impressed in the least. We waited about 15 minutes for a table on the deck, when there were obviously 4 or 5 open tables. Once we were seated, it was a few more minutes before our waitress came up, and the girl looked like she hadn't brushed her hair in days and her shorts could've been classified as panties (they were THAT short). We were given a side of coleslaw and crackers to start off with, the slaw was bland with little flavor, we were served sweet tea that tasted unsweet, and once our order finally came, my catfish basket consisted of very bland, season-less fish, and greasy fries, obviously I wasn't eating my partner's food, but he said the shrimp and cheese grits were also very bland and had very little flavor. It was a little digusting when our waitress was digging her shorts out of her crotch while standing at our table after giving us our check (again, they really were THAT short), and complaining to us about some people who hadn't tipped her very well. The food is far too expensive for what you get...we've ate at two other seafood establishments on the causeway and both were less expensive, had way better food, a cleaner atmosphere, and decent waiters. We will not be visiting Ed's again, once was enough! Besides, you can get the SAME view at the other restaurants since some reviewers were commenting on the view from Ed's. We ate on the deck of the Original Oyster House a few months ago, and the view was spectacular of the Battleship and the Mobile skyline at sunset, it was truly unique (in addition to being cleaner, more comfortable, and having way better food for cheaper!)
A group of four went to eds last week. The inside smells of mildew and the prices are high for what you get. there are better places on the causeway for the money.
Best food in town: Excellent food, as I am writting about your food my husband and son are traveling to California and are eating there right now. You have not only good food but good service. Thanks
