Mateer's was a little disappointing although it was highly recommended by the couple with whom we had dinner. The restaurant decor was eclectic & cozy but the seating was uncomfortable. The cushioned benches did not allow us to sit back and relax during the 3 hour dinner. The smoked duck quesadilla was delicious, the tandori chicken and fried calamari were decent. But the duck breast entree was served cold and smothered with an exceedingly sweet honey sauce that overwhelmed the flavor of the meat. The food service was terribly slow and we had difficulty getting our waitress's attention for drinks most of the evening.

ambiance was excellent; service just seemed inexperienced but kind and very minimal....we had to ask for everything we needed such as specials; we didn't get bread, the other table did;ceasar salad had tomatos and feta cheese (although menu did say that). It was more like a Greeaser salad, just not what I expected. Food was not warm enough; at end of meal table was not cleared. Pasta with scallops was served too soupy,
