Extremely friendly staff. Immediate attention. Tiny "dive" (in a fun way) atmosphere. Then, very long time before got meal. Not worth wait or price. Delicious mixed drink. Crab claws were yummy. Salad yummy. Fried clam strips and fried shrimp were nothing special. Pasta primavera yummy. However, our children were not satisfied. It took too long. And, for 4 of us, the cost with tip was $90. Whew! My 12-year's meal alone was $15. Not worth it.
My husband and I enjored every morsal!!! We came two nights in a row! We had seafood pasta, baked oysters, a wonderful broiled seafood platter, delicious crab bisque, and even the popcorn shrimp was tender and tasty!! The resturant looks a little run down so we almost didn't go but we are glad we did. Would recommend this place to any seafood lover!! And to the comment above about the chicken...... it's a seafood resturant. Try a chicken resturant if you want chicken. Quit complaining!
We arrived in Gulf Shores, AL, after a long 10 hour drive. We decided to come to the Gulf Shores for our second wedding anniversary. We wanted to walk on the beach and enjoy some fresh seafood while here.
We checked in our hotel and asked the clerk, "where would be a good place to get a good, fresh seafood dinner?" Automatically, she said, "King Neptunes!" "It looks like a dive, but the food is great." She gives us directions, we unload our luggage and excitedly, head that way.
Found it!! And, She was correct, it did give that "hole in the wall," apprearance. We didn't let that dim our vision. We were after a awesome, appitising experience of culinary excelance.
The parking was tight, the place was bustling! That was a good sign. We smiled at each other and opened the door. Everyone was smiling, yet another good sign! We were seated, ordered our drinks and continued looking at the appitizers. Mmmm, coconut shrimp, we both agreed. The menu looked so appitizing. What shall we choose? My husband chose the mini seafood platter, shirmp, oysters and flounder. I chose a combo platter, simular to his, shirmp, oysters and clam strips. We couldn't wait!
Our cocunut shrimp was excellant!! The breading a bit thick, but the flavor was very good. Finally, our food arrived. I was a little deflated as a "salad bar oval plate," was placed in front of me. I was shocked at the size of the plate for the price we'd paid. Ok, so maybe the food's taste would out-weighed the size? hmmm.. Scattered over my crinkle cut fries, were 6 pale, small shrimps. The should have been cooked a lil' longer. The menu said, "golden brown." Our oysters, were cooked a golden brown. But, you had to get through the excessive breading to get to the oyster. My husband said the flounder was pretty good as he ate it. My poor little clam strips were so tough and over cooked, they didn't enjoy my ooh's and aww's as I ate them. I don't think they were as disappointed as I was.
Overall, we were deflated. Our first night on the gulf and our seafood experience was more suited to something we would have gotten in a drive-in.
