I had my daughters Wedding Reception here, (although the name has been changed to Palms) and was assured it would be a wonderful experience. It was not. The service was horrible. It took over 3 hours to serve 30 people. Guests arrived at approximately 7:00 p.m. and were finally being served at 10:30. The staff was rude and did not give any explanation as to why it took so long, only that it couldn't be helped. Nor did they care. The restaurant itself wasn't that busy since we had overheard 2 waitresses complaining about how slow it was and that they didn't have anything to do. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with the food, service and atmosphere in general. Not only were we ignored and treated like we were last on the priority list, an outrageous gratuity was added to our checks! Which, when questioned, was another "couldn't be changed" explanation. I will not go there again, nor will I recommend it to my friends. It was terrible.
WOW!!Manogs hosted my son's rehearsal supper for us just this October 2008. We had about fifty quest. Mark and his staff had prepared everything we had asked for. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. We will be back! Thanks!
Nothing can ruin a great restaurant like food cost bean counters. For years Mangos has been my one "must eat there once" stop when I visited Orange Beach. Obviously they spent some money remodeling, but it is now loud and much more casual (losing that "dress up and eat out" feel), but most disappointing was the elimination of most of our favorite dishes on the menu that have been there for years. I'm sure management is saving some pennies by trimming the menu, but they will quickly lose the clientèle that made Mangos so successful for many years. Long-time fans such as myself will likely be disappointed. The tuna is still great, and there are a few items that bring back memories of the Mangos I love, but the steak I had was disappointing considering its price and the wait staff is but a shadow of its former self. To the management...if you must make Mangos casual like every other place on the beach, at least keep your offerings up and in line with the prices you charge. If you don't, I suspect you wont be around to care about this review in a year or two. In the meanwhile, I'll try to find another source of smoked gouda crawfish cheesecake and pecan-crusted tilapia.
