Just got back from the Lighthouse in Bayou La Batre...First of all the food was great but the experience was made THE BEST by our waitress, Leela..(not sure if that is the correct spelling) But she was so helpful and knowledgabe and we had a great time just cutting up with her...she did an outstanding job and even if the food HAD been a bit less than we hoped for, she would have pulled up our opinion with just her attitude and personality...On the way out the door, I asked an elderly couple if they eat at the LH often and they said at least every other night...thats loyalty...:) It was very reasonably price (7 of us had a bill of 120 bucks including a 20% tip we added for our wonderful waitress PLUS, that price included 3 different large appetizers on top of 7 dinners and softdrinks) so it was very affordable...give it a try...HEY...ask for LEELA....:)
We live North Of Mobile- about 45 mins from here- but make the trip about once a month. They have a great Seafood Platter- like a real old Mobile Platter! Service is just O.K.- not great- but food makes it worth it!
My husband and I have traveled extensively, and the best seafood we've ever eaten is at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Bayou La Batre, AL. It is located in a colorful area that is famed for its seafood, and the Lighthouse serves only the freshest seafood, and they sure know how to cook it up. A fantasy for the tongue. The owners and employees are always friendly, meeting your every need. As an added bonus, the prices are very reasonable. Three or four times a year, we drive down (500 mile round trip) for a weekend, just to dine at the Lighthouse. If your ever in the coastal area of Alabama, you owe it to yourself to make a point to stop and dine at the Lighthouse.
