You know after visiting this hotel a few times you'd think that for the price they would have a simple microwave in this day in age for mothers to warm baby milk. But like my mother, I had to do was run the bottle under hot water like she did before their were microwaves. As far as enough luggage staff NOT ENOUGH! At least have enough luggage carts for large families that do not have to take so many trips up and down with their luggage. As far as the view and atmosphere OUTSIDE of your rooms is beautiful and alot of fun. I hope in the future either the price will be cheaper or their will be more amenities because we could have spent the same at a beautiful condo resort for the same price or cheaper. Also make sure before you check out that your room is being charged to the right cc.
Ho-Hum, Another want-to-be resort on the beach: I find myself at this hotel, I mean resort, about twice a year over the past ten years attending conventions for my employer. I've been in lots of room overlooking the parking lot, swimming pool and, once or twice, a view that is slightly more that a fleeting glimpse of the Gulf.
I can say that the rooms are consistent. I don't think they have changed the bedspreads, shower curtains or furniture in the rooms in all these years. They probably looked great in the 1970s and they still look like something from another time period today.
They have never fixed the air conditioners in their guest rooms. The hair-trigger controls cannot be controlled. You are either entering the ice age or burning up in the tropics. Sure, go ahead and try to find a comfortable setting for the AC. I dare you. It cannot be done.
I imagine that the Perdido Beach Resort pays performing employees well because I see the same singers and piano players every year. I expect to be hearing songs about 401-Ks and social security before too long from their entertainment talent.
The swimming pool is OK, the weight room is adequate, the help is, for the most part, friendly. The food served in their convention rooms is, well, convention food.
By now you must be thinking that I am holding back on some ugly problem at the Perdido. No, there are no problems. It just that a place with the "guts" to call itself a "resort" should have something more than a great location. The "resort" is the beach. If the Perdido Beach Resort was really a resort, there would be resort activities at the "resort."
I think we have a convention hotel with a couple of restaurants thrown in for the guests who love hotel food. The place is good, but I have a hard time thinking of it as a resort. It is a hotel. It would be hard to tell the difference between a Holiday Inn and the Perdido "Resort" in this location.
Will I stay there in the future? Sure, the organizations my employer thinks I need to be involved with have already scheduled their conventions for next year there. I guess it is good that I am spending my employer's money because I would be upset at paying their room rates when i consider the value of their rooms, services and quality.
