My family and I traveled to Orange Beach a couple of weeks ago and decided to eat at Jake's Grill. Big mistake. The steak was overcooked (ordered medium and looked like leather), the salad plates were dirty, the bread was dry, and the service was awful. Don't waste your money or time on this place.
My husband and I dined at this restaurant on Sunday, May 4, 2008. It was a dreadful experience. First of all, you have the young hostesses with attitudes you ask to sit in a booth instead of at a table when being seated. Secondly, the food was terrible. My husband ordered the ribs, cole slaw and freis. The ribs looked as if they had been sitting out for quite a while and re-heated in the microwave. The sauce on the ribs was thick, sticky and you were able to "push" the sauce aside with your knife. Third, the waitress was way too overwhelmed with the many tables that she had to wait on that attention to our table was overlooked. Although, the restaurant was not that crowded and it looked as if she only had about 4 or 5 tables to wait on. Our food was brought along with another couple's food and my husband did not receive the cole slaw that he ordered. The waitress came back to the other couple's table and asked if they received everything and did not even ask us. She also came back several times to their table and to others around us, but did not once ask my husband and I if we needed anything. Nor did she ask us if we wanted any desert (not that I would have eaten it by then anyway) when she came back and took up our half eaten plates. She then arrived with the our check and at that time had the nerve to ask if we wanted anything else to drink. My husband paid the tab and we left knowing in the future that Jake's is the place to stay away from.
