I had eaten at the Ale House several times before. On this last visit I was telling my husband how wonderful the food was and how much fun it could be. He was looking forward to visiting. When we arrived the place was empty. The smell almost made us leave before we reached the stairs. We decided to stay. The service was slow and acted like she really didn't want to be there. When the food came, let's just say dorm food is gourmet cuisine compared to the garbage we were served. We have made several trips back to Auburn since this visit, but non to the Ale House. We will NEVER, I repeat NEVER, go back to the Olde Auburn Ale House again. I hope it closes.
Upon reading these reviews and others on the Ale House's atmosphere and food quality including the online menu we decided to try it out on a recent Thursday night stay in Auburn. It is rather on a back street but not diffcult to find. Although I imagine finding parking on a weekend night to be diffcult. As soon as the husband and I walked in we decided it wasn't what we thought. By the time we were seated and ordered the first drinks we started to leave, unfortunately we stayed. Service although friendly was very slow. The place was barely a 1/4 capacity. There was no band this night nor even music from a radio. The noise came from a group of 20+ girls celebrating something. We had one menu and had to wait until another table finished with their menus to obtain a second one. The online menu has several more items on it than the actual printed menu in the Ale House. My husband had to order something different from what he originally had in mind. It mainly consisted of a large bowl of rice and 6 overcooked shrimp. Very overpriced for the quality and what we originally thought we would be getting. Wanting a house brew I let the waitress select a "Tiger Tail". Not to my liking at all and I am not a picky beer drinker. We won't be going back. Meal cost $52.00+tip.
Love it: Great Italian food, love the atmosphere
