This place is definitely defined as a bar. It has no rules that are strictly followed. If you are in the click or a member of the round table as they call it you can get away with just about anything. Many older people hang out there which is ok until they make a pass at you (when they are old enough to be your dad) with their wife there. The have some guy named Jerry Sweeney that tries to run the place. I hope the VFW dosen't not get financially ruined it like WK&T did. A girl I know worked at the VFW, she was fired for the same reason as the girl before. She did not even do anything and everyone liked her. He hires and fires bartenders usualy before you can get to know their name. Look at the turnover of bartenders, something is going on. It is a very political place and very negative. It is not fun when all everyone does is sit around and complain. They had a commander Tom Parker years ago who was awsome, he was not afraid of Jerry. Maybe they should call him back to get the a-kissin politics out of there. It is all about what can you do for me there not what can we do to help a veteran. Look at John Mills for example. Years of dedication to that place and they shun him. Shame on them. Someone help that place, it needs leadership before it is ruined. No a-kissers need apply!

This is definitely NOT a place for true veterans to go. It is full of gossip and should be investigated to see how many people that go there are actually eligible to be a member. There is plenty of tension and physical altercations in the establishment. It caters to a BAR atmosphere. At a meeting, a female was physically thrown out of the VFW and injured by a member of substantial recongition. It is definitely not a place to bring a family or children. The organization looks good in the newspaper during parade time, but look at and speak carefully to the people that attend with caution. It is very clickish. Many of the members that attended for years no longer attend and have changed their membership. It is NOT a place to go to meet fellow vets, relax, and have fun.

VFW post 1160 is not what it represents itself to be. The infighting, disrespect, abuse of power, gossip and other such activities too numerous to mention has made this a negative place for anyone who is looking for a truly good time with other fellow vets. Unfortunately I don't see anything changing soon as this behavior has become the status quo. Several in the Ladies Auxilary actively participate in this behavior and are often the gossips who have no basis for their lies other than to create drama and stir the pot. It is truly sad to see that comraderie doesn't exist here. It has only become a word that is tossed about with only a few knowing the true meaning of it. To think that once these men and women had each other's back during war. I fail to see how this is possible given the climate that exists within the four walls now.

Jules is very accurate in the description of the VFW. Someone please look at the employment turnover of bartenders, all cannot get fired for the same thing every time, JS needs to come up with an new reason. Jules told the truth about the VFW Post 11160 on Lafayette Road. Abuse of power, gossip and NUMEROUS activities made it a negative place. The tension can be felt when you walk in the door. It is full of gossip and drama.
