| About: | Long ago, during the days when alcohol was prohibited throughout the United States, Jimmy Kelly's was a little known place to go in Nashville for some of the forbidden elixir. Old-timers fondly remember the succulent steaks and warm atmosphere of this homey Southern restaurant. You can still come here for a delicious steak today. Toss back a beer or two and relax, while the white-gloved wait staff attends to your every need. Dine on the outdoor patio or the glassed-in porch when the temperature allows. |

I agree it has seen it's better days, and I ate at the old one back in the 70's. Now St Thomas Hosp area.
We also had dinner there last Saturday. Got there just as they were opening the doors at 5PM. Waiter was unprepared, the room was bleak and the service poor. Worse though was the sad version of a strip steak. I've had better at Ponderosa.
Food was only average; with the exception of the corn fritters, better salads and steaks for same price at Stoney River @ Cool Springs or,Flemmings.
This is a must if your visiting Nashville and want to experience the true southern plantation experience. The service is outstanding and the food is excellent.
Has seen its better days.: Had dinner there with a business associate last week. Got there just as they were opening the doors at 5PM. Was seated at a table with stained, soiled table cloth. Waiter walks up as he's putting on his white jacket, and the jacket has food stains all over it. The waiter, I assume, had a cold and was constantly sniffing. It just felt nasty. Food was average; with the exception of the corn fritters, better salads and better steaks at Mortons, Ruths Chris, Flemmings, or The Palm.
