On 9-22-07 along with good friends from Florida(Italians) we arrived at Sole Mio where we waited 5 mintues for anyone to greet us. Finally, the hostess arrives to inform us our table isn't ready. We asked if were could wait in the bar (it wasn't suggested). We went to the bar where we found no-one. After another 5 minutes without the benefit of a "I'll be right with you", or "someone will be with your shortly" we began to feel unappreciated. The bar was full of empty glasses, napkins, etc. We saw several of the wait staff walk by staring at us like we were from Mars, when I asked if anyone was tending bar, one rather annoyed waitress told us she would be right back. She returned a few minutes later to clean the bar and threw a wine list at us. We asked for a cocktail menu and she informed us they didn't have one. Well, guess what? she never returned. At this point we had had enough. It gets better, the hostess comes to tell us our table is now ready and we could bring our drinks with us. When I requested to speak to the manager I was told there wasn't one in the restaurant. What I took away from my experience with Sole Mio is this; any restaurant who cannot properly greet you, extend courtesy, take a drink order doesn't deserve your time. When in Nashville if your taste is Italian, don't bother with Sole Mio, instead go to a real restaurant that knows how to treat customers like Valentino's
I recall eating at Sole Mio once just after returning from Northern Italy. It felt like I was eating another of those home cooked meals in Northern Italy. I've returned many times and the food is consistently good, the service always a notch above the rest, and the ambiance terrific. The prices are quite reasonable if not low for the overall experience. I recommend getting a dish with pasta, because the noodles are made fresh in house. Save room for dessert if you can!
AWFUL!!!!: I am not exactly sure what these other reviews are raving about! I would not recommend this restaurant. The service was lousy! When my friend asked about a particular dish the waiter said it was not his favorite, to pick something different. I found the food to be very bland! I hope it was just an off night!
