| About: | This old plantation house has been the home of the city's finest seafood buffet for over 20 years. Step past the tall white columns, through the double doors and into a piece of Southern history. The tall ceilings and wide windows provide a perfect view of the airplanes taking off from the nearby Nashville airport. It's a strange view from such an elegant establishment, but one glance at the buffet and you will forsake any other sights. Crab legs to lobster, shrimp to prime rib are at the ready. The price is a bit steep, but you can't find this much seafood at this price anywhere else. Dress is business casual, so you can be comfortable in jeans and a polo or a blazer and tie. |

We went to celebrate our anniversary, which turned into the worst dining experience of our lives. I have never been so insulted and rudely treated ever. We had been before when it was buffet and the food was amazing. We were surprised to see that they changed to ala cart. That would have been fine had they maintained the quality of the food. The first thing we got was oysters rockefeller at $12.00. This had been my very favorite when we ate there before. It was ok this time, not bad but just ok. Then they brought bread, my husbands salad, and my clam chowder. The bread was so hard, you could play baseball with it. Upon questioning the waitress, I confirmed what I already knew, which was the bread was frozen. My husband had ordered a wedge salad. This was the biggest joke of all. It was $8 and all it had was a chunk of iceburg lettuce, three slices of cucumber, one cherry tomato, imitation bacon bits, and salad dressing. The clam chowder had no flavor and tasted like milk water. The potatoes tasted grainy. It tasted like it had been reheated or was out of a can. At this point we were very disappointed, but the topper was when my husband received his ribeye. He ordered it medium and received it medium rare. Our waitress never came back to our table to check on us, but I caught a manager and asked him how it was cooked and he said medium rare. He offered to put it back on the grill. What a joke!!!! This is supposed to be a fine dining restaurant. I would never dream of putting an already cooled steak back on the grill. I would have offered to cook a new one but he didn't give that option. At that point, we told them just to bring us our check. They wouldn't let us pay for the meal even though we did insist that we wanted to but the topper was when we were leaving. There was a man standing at the door who I assume is the owner or manager. Again, I tried to pay, and he said just leave, I know our food is good. He insinuated that we were trying to pull some kind of scam or something. I have never been so insulted in my life. I was so looking forward to a night of good food and atmosphere. The night wasn't lost though. We left there and went to Dave and Busters and my husband got his ribeye cooked perfectly and we had a great time. The moral: Just because it costs more doesn't mean it's as good. Even O'Charleys makes their bread fresh and not frozen.
Since I have moved down here, I have heard quite a bit about this place...so, I had to check it out. The buffet is great (lots of choices) as long as you love stick-to-your-ribs kind of food and seafood...you'll love this restaurant. The wine menu boasts mostly of Californian wines (so not a lot of variety there), but the ambience and staff make it a wonderful dining experience.
We went there day before Valentine's Day, around 6pm, we were the 2nd couple @ the place (not busy @ all). Our server barely spoke with us and if we asked for anything we will get instructions of how to get stuff ourselves. Ceiling fan was full of dust so I was glad if was off. Curtains and walls were full of OLD food residues. Curtains hasnt been washed or changes in decades. Smell was aweful and for the amount of money that they charged (40.00/person) I am pretty sure they can afford an air freshener to help with this matter. Dont let the ALL YOU CAN EAT phrase fool you like it did us, variety is NOT that great. Will not recommend!!!!

Thank you for your accurate review, I wanted so bad to take my boyfriend who loves seafood. And after reading your review and I myself have a background in cooking and serving. So I could understand even more so what you pointed out. Thank you so much for writing.
