with nothing but 5 star reviews,i am going to try this place.i am addicted to sushi
yesterday evening me and my 14 year old son ate at sams, sam is a super nice guy and is very talkative,my son really got a kick out of meeting sam.my son had a california roll and a nashville roll,he also got a third nashille roll to go,i had 2 spicy tuna rolls and a spicy salmon roll.
each piece of sushi was a real mouth stuffer, they are not only big rolls but sam really stuffs them with all the good stuff.yesterday was my 3rd time eating there in the last 2 months, the sushi rolls get bigger the more sam gets to know you.i love sams,,he rocks,if you go there in the evening you will be fine,i usaully go around 6 pm.we had 6 supersize sushi rolls and 6 soft drinks for $19.50.
Sam's is the most unusual business owner I've ever met. I took my wife and her sister here one Sunday afternoon....it was the only place open. I ordered 3 rolls and Sam told me that I needed to order more for him to make us a meal!!!! I thought he was kidding, but NO....he was serious. He actuly told me to come back when I was hungry. So I doubled our order. Each roll is only about $3 to $4....and they're the biggest rolls you'll ever see. We had enough food to feed 3 people for $13!!!!! And the food is extremely fresh and awesome. I tried to give him $20 ($7 tip), but he actuly has a sign up saying that you can't leave a tip!!! He refused my tip. You'll understand when you meet Sam, he's the Sushi Nazi. Greatest Sushi place ever!!!
The portions are HUGE (the soup prices are for a POT, NOT a cup or bowl -- and it's still somethin like $3-4!, and the rolls are about twice the size of normal ones). and it wasn't watery soup with nothing in it, either; at least half of it was composed of solid stuff, like noodles & veggies & eggs & imitation crab meat. You could've gotten something like 8 servings out of that pot. Me and the other girl I'd gone with had ordered two rolls and the pot of soup, and the rolls had come out first...we were completely stuffed by the time the soup came out, but we felt obligated to eat some anyway. I felt so bad leaving it behind.
The place seems to have a lot of regulars. Sam's quite a character. It was the first time I've EVER seen a business owner turn customers away when they still had the facilities and capability to accommodate them. He actually told a party of 5-6 to go away, when the first person stuck her head in the door, and then locked the door after them!
I am sooo glad he thought us worthy of eating there; the sushi was AMAZING and the price was AMAZING-ER. It almost seems like Sam's not in it for the money but more for a hobby. :P
