Gardners is one of the best places to eat in downtown Cleveland. The food is very high quality, and properly priced. The atmosphere is unbeatable, the only complaint possibly being that it's small, but that is unavoidable.
The workers can seem exasperated, but if you've ever worked in or around food service you'd be quick to hold your tongue, there are like 6 employees total at the restaurant, owners included, they're hard pressed to make the food, let alone all the special orders customers obnoxiously expect to have catered to on a whim like at a mcdonalds. Not to mention cleaning and other daily upkeep.
The food is delicious, the atmosphere is incredible, and it isn't to expensive, if you're looking for the right 'mom and pop' locally owned restaurant in Cleveland: Gardners, Jenkins, and Old Fort are the staple.
Fresh ingredients make for delicious food, and this place has delicious food!
It can be busy at times, but worth it. The Veggie on Sourdough is a favorite...
As far as sandwiches go Gardener's is the place to be. Soup, not so much. It seems as though they scrape the burnt remains off the bottom of the pot and slop it in a bowl. Gross. Give me a break.
