Outback is simply the best steak to be had in East Tennessee - bar none-. The seasonings are spicy and rich, the food plentiful, and the deserts absolutely sinful. The music is upbeat and lively alternative and mid eighties to mid nineties pop. The service is almost always excellent and if it isn't, you don't have to embarrassed to ask for the manager and you can bet it will be fixed. My husband and I are those nightmare diners waiters fear, the ones who tip purely based on the quality of service and put notes on the final bill as to what they did right and wrong and it is one of only two restaurants (Outback and Fatz) that are constantly good enough in every catagory to be called out favorites.
On a scale of 1 - 10 with 1 being taking your life into your own hands and 10 being pretty darn close to Heaven....
Food taste 10
Food portions 10
Cleanliness 8
Service 10 (or else)
Management (their ability to make it right when something goes wrong) 10
Wait time 7 (but Johnson city is definitely a service town)
Noise level 7 ( a little high but that is the fault of mixing diners with beer and children)
Mixed Drinks 9
Prices 8 (about average with other steak houses)
Menu Variety 9
Parking and lot accessability 10
Handicap Parking availability 8 (only three spots but up front)
Decor 8
Bathroom Cleanliness 9
Bathroom location 7 (the aisle to the bathrooms is narrow and used also for pick up businessso you have squeeze past people too often and it is in the bar so you have to wend your way past the intoxicated)
TVs 7 (There are there four two in the bar and two in the waiting area, most of the dining room is hidden from them, thankfully, and they are blessedly muted. There is nothing worse than to go out to dinner and be subjected to a television.)
our favorite place: kings cycle shop eats there all the time
