    The food didn't taste fresh. The waitress was less than admirable, or polite. Three days after my dinner at this place I found out they charged my credit card twice for $24.05....when I called to have them fix it they barely spoke English, than said "call your cc company." So, now because of their unethical standpoint on business management I have to spend hours on the phone to get back $24 and some change.

    Now we're talkin' Mex. El Mat is as good as it gets. Greeted and seated in no time flat, the waiters are courteous, knowledgeable and don't hover.
    Places this good should make eating at Taco Hell a punishable offense. Spend a few pesos more and get the real thing -- and don't ask to see the wait staff's green cards. They're the real deal. Thanx NAFTA.

    If you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere with fast courteous service, good food, and stiff drinks at a reasonable price, your search is over. I was a regular at this restaurant for over a year and a half at one point and sampled just about everything on the menu. The staff is always friendly and accomodating. The food has always been very good and very authentic (yes, I was going out with a bunch of my more Latin friends) and you can afford to treat everybody at the table if they order off the combo menu. When it comes to a dining experience that easily plays background to your group's fun, you can't go wrong with El Matador. (I most frequently go to the North Roan location, even though the more modern one in Boone's Creek is great, too.)
