Incredible aquarium. First class all the way. It is hard to believe that an aquarium in the Smokey Mountains could have so many fish and great displays. The walk thru part was super nice.
I was absolutely blown away by Ripley's Aquarium. The variety of fish and sea life is absolutely amazing -- sharks, sawfish, sting rays, barracuda, pompano, giant sea turtles, jellyfish, octupus, eels, and even flounder!!
In my opinion the price of admission is well worth it. I'm sure the cost of maintaining artificial sea water in Gatlinburg, Tennessee is astronomical. The exhibits are well designed and educational. This was a highlight of my trip to Gatlinburg.
If you are in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area, this is a MUST SEE for families! It is absolutely awesome - we had a great time.
Admission price is about average for an aquarium nationwide - we paid just over $20 each (buy tickets online - it's much quicker).
There is a huge variety of fish, and the shark tunnel is so cool, you'll have to go through it more than once. :o) Be sure to take a camera - don't use your flash. I have a "kids and pets" setting which worked great and got some wonderful shots.
One piece of advice - GO EARLY. It gets more crowded later in the day. We went one morning shortly after it opened, and it wasn't bad. We stayed for a couple of hours and by the time we left, it was really getting crowded. So for the most bang for your buck, get up early and go - it's worth it! :o)
