Love this place. Prices are not bad either. I always have to have mac and cheese with my meal. It tastes like my great-grandmother used to make. I don't think we've ever been disappointed with our food. Buscuits, pancakes, chicken n dumplings, grilled or fried chicken tenders, etc. all have been great. Plus the little store always has cute things you don't see most other places. The service is generally really good too.

Long Lines Here Also: This Cracker Barrel restaurant (Johnson City, Kingsport is included) is as good as most Cracker Barrel restaurants except........ on US Interstate 26 (I26) going toward North Carolina, there are no other Cracker Barrel restaurants for 70 miles Plus. There are also none in the cities of Elizabethton, Jonesboro, Erwin, or the town of Unicoi. From mid-week on, this restaurant is packed. The nearest Cracker Barrel restaurant is located on US Interstate 81 (Kingsport) maybe 20 miles from this one, serves a huge area and is also packed at peak eating hours. At the I26 restaurant, they will tell you that your wait is 20-30 minutes and you'll end up standing around for 45-60 minutes. Because the restaurant is then running at full capacity, don't expect your food to arrive in a reasonable amount of time, or be at the right temperature, especially if there are 3+ in your party. The reserved RV and trailer parking is the first parking area as you enter the parking lot. The locals think nothing about filling up these parking spaces with their cars first, even during off peak eating hours. So if you're pulling a travel trailer or in a motor home, not only will there be no parking available for you, you'll have to carefully drive all around the parking lot to exit at the entrance you came in. There are always camplaints in trailer/motorhome magazines about this Cracker Barrel warning others NOT to stop if they have large rigs. There is only one entrance/exit. Lots of luck from a family that has learned to eat elsewhere in Johnson City and on US 81.

Good home-style food: Great Southern style home cookin'. Great breakfast. Best 1/2 pound bacon cheeseburger in town.
