Ate at the Peddler twice while in Gatlinburg last week. The steaks were excellent, and the trout my wife had the second night was well prepared, deboned and served with at tasty rosemary butter. Great salad bar and friendly service. (they offer to cut the children's prime rib serving - which is great for the parents) While dining there, try to get a window seat overlooking the Pigeon River. (if these seats are all taken in the main restaurant - sit in the lounge area) The Peddlar is a little pricy for Gatlinburg - but well in line with similar restaurants in larger cities. And the quality of food is way superior. The Peddler is a treat.
My wife and I ate dinner at the Peddler Monday night. The entres are way overpriced for the quality and quantity of the food (18.95 for a chicken breast and $24.95 for a 9 ounce prime rib, each with salad bar and potato). The prime rib was literally 1/2 fat which I did not eat. There are comparable steak houses in my home town which charge no more but offer much better quality steaks. The quality of the meal at the Peddler is no better than a national chain located on the next blockin Gatlinburg which charges about 1/2 the price of the Peddler and has waitresses who line dance between serving orders.
You couldn't pay me to eat at the Peddler again.
My husband and I went to The Peddler on our honeymoon because it was supposedly great, but I thought the food was not seasoned enough and what I ordered was almost nasty. The salad bar was great, though. Being from Louisiana, we are used to good, seasoned food, I thought it very boring, and so did my husband. When we go back to tennessee, we definitely will not eat there again.
