The "hot and ready" pizza they advertise is never ready. I've been there three times and have waited at least ten minutes each time. I could have driven to Little Ceasars where their pizzas are actually ready.

Tony's is my favorite pizza place. We go several times a month for the super buffet. Its all you can eat, and they ask what kind of pizzas you want and make them for you. There are never long waits and the staff is friendly. They even have great coupons on top of their good prices.

I must admit, I've never actually eaten in the restaurant, but I'm a regular for delivery and take-out. The food is excellent, the prices aren't too bad (considering the portions and the quality of the food), and you won't find a nicer bunch of people.

For an appetizer, try the fried mushrooms or the hummus and olives with bread sticks. I'm no expert on hummus, but Tony's is far and above the best hummus I've had. I can't vouch that they make it themselves, but it sure tastes fresh and home-made. Even without the hummus, the bread sticks are a treat! Always soft, fresh, and warm. (Home made again?)

For an entrée, I'm a big fan of the steak-in-a-sack, strips of grilled steak mixed with grilled onions and peppers with lettuce and tomato, all served in a fresh, warm, soft pita. I can also recommend the chicken and hummus pita, grilled chicken chunks with hummus, lettuce and tomato (?), all in that lovely pita. I usually get fries which, all in all, are pretty average compared to the outstanding quality of the rest of their food. That being said, Tony's fries are better than any fast food place's. I usually don't go for the pizza, as I'm lactose intolerant, but I have occasionally ordered one without cheese and must say that they are quite good. Pita, bread sticks, pizza crust... they must make and bake all these by hand, as they're delish.

To round out your dinner (assuming you have room left) they have a double-chocolate cake that is just to die for!

As far as the facilities, Tony's qualifies as a hole-in-the-wall joint. It's located way out in a semi-rural suburb of Knoxville called Karns. It's in a non-descript strip mall, and unless you know where you're going, you'll probably drive right by it without a thought. The interior is equally non-descript. No kitschy crap on the walls there, and nobody's wearing any flair. But think of all that as a GOOD thing. Tony's is one of those places the locals know about and eat at all the time, one of those places that is worth venturing out to find. The food is the star here, as is the service. The staff are always friendly, even the delivery people... and they've delivered to my place in some pretty pitiful weather--rain, snow, cold, or hot and muggy as all get out--let me tell you. Try to get service with a smile from the Domino's or Papa John's people on nights like that.
