Chao Praya is a great Thai restaurant and I would recommend many more people give it a go. The food is delicious and the interior is gorgeous! I come there very often!
HORRIBLE. Absolutely HORRIBLE service and the food was terrible. My husband and I went last night, Sunday 7-13-08, at 6pm for dinner. I ordered a glass of Blackstone Merlot from the menu which they didn't have and wasn't offered the menu to order something else. So I asked for any other Merlot they have. I then ordered the Thai Beef Salad and the seafood combination "specialty" which ended up being a SOUP that you could smell from across the room, not to mention the taste. And the salad was the Praya Salad which I wouldn't brag about either. As soon as he sat it down I realized that this was not what I thought I ordered and asked to see a menu and if they would take the soup back. I explained to the waiter that I thought I was ordering a spicy seafood combination in a sauce served with rice. He said that what I ordered did say soup. I then asked him AGAIN that we weren't going to eat the soup and if we get a menu to order something else. He went to ask someone else if they could make the dish I was talking about. He said yes but it wasn't on the menu and it was $17.95. For the third time I asked for a menu to order something we could actually eat. After 10 minutes another waiter comes over and says, "Since it was not our mistake we can only give you a discount 'specialty' dish but doesn't offer a menu. Again I ask she knew the dish I was talking about and if it was on the menu. By this time I am not only wondering why the hell I would order another $18 dish not knowing what I am going to get. Still haven't got the menu I asked for and asking my hubby what is wrong with this picture? After 45 minutes and still no resolution we are so hungry and furious that we decide to ask for the check. The waiter brings the check and tells us he forgot to add the wine. I have to tell him to put it on the check and bring it back. We had to end up paying $30 and left the dishes on the table, and vowed to each other NEVER to return to this restaurant EVER! So, long story short.. Don't make the mistake of ordering at this restaurant for you may have to pay $60 for dinner as we did last night - $30 at Praya for dishes you cannot eat, gas driving somewhere else and another $30 at another restaurant.
One of my favorite restaurants: I love Chao Praya Restaurant! My dad takes me there a lot. The food is delicious, and the people are so nice. They know me by now! I'm planning for them to maybe cater my birthday party! I just love it!
