| About: | The huge BBQ sandwich here is the favorite choice of many and makes an inexpensive lunch by itself. Beef or pork ribs come with beans, slaw or potato salad. (You can get beef ribs in Memphis, but you are likely to get odd reactions when you order themto locals, "barbecue" means "pork.") The BBQ spaghetti (pasta with barbecue meat and sauce on top) is served with slaw and bread. With most business being take-out, the dining room is small and functional. If you do choose to eat at the restaurant, you will find that the dress is decidedly casual, as are the table mannersthe only way to eat ribs is with your fingers. |

First stop in Memphis was Interstate BBQ. No BBQ smell in the air should have been my 1st clue....we found out (after asking) that you seat yourself....I ordered combo plate ribs & tips w/beans & slaw....meat was barely warm with no noticeably seasoninf taste (tasted steamed or pre-boiled) with a waterly sauce, half the tips was were unchewable, beans cold and dried out; loved the slaw. I had the sweet potato pie for dessert...they gave me a little round pie...I'm like.....I'm in the south I want a peice of southern sweet potato pie! I will not even go into my wife's reviews. We wanted and wanted for the check...I finally went up front an into the adjacent room and was told I shloud pay there...Oh! okay.
I would say pretty soon they are going to run out of visiters and they will have to close.
Horrible service, food came out lukewarm, taste was mediocre. Their "reviews" stating they were voted #1 and #2 by various publications are all bogus. They had one review posted above our table, and not only was it from "People Weekly", a fictitious publication, it was rife with typos and spelling errors - the article subtitle even had BBQ spelled BBG!!!! This place is a waste of your time and money. Only time in my life I left zero tip, because the waitress was so horrible.
what a disappointment, the food was not good,i expect great bbq since i saw it on the travel channel, overrated. me and my 7 co-workers took a day trip to interstate, and all 7 said very overrated, never eat their again never , travel channel need new food taster, tell the truth about food, good or bad . this was bad. airport-d-con-evenside say eat at uncle lou or gus fried chicken, bbq is bad in memphis. rachael ray was wrong about this place, everybody can't cook bbq, where was the owner thats the problem,he or she need to be at pit, grill, what ever u cook on. owner get there or u going to loose a lot of businessssss.
