PART I Here's the deal: there are 3 floors. The first floor is laid back and has a live band that plays r&b until it gets late. But watch out because once the 2nd floor closes at 2 or 3 a.m. all of that crowd comes down to the 1st floor since they are NOT ALLOWED on the 3rd floor and the band leaves and the deejay plays r&b/rap. The 2nd floor is ALL rap and can be pretty scary. It's predominately black, waaaaaay overcrowded, and all you see is security taking ppl down and out everywhere you look. The 3rd floor is predominately white, waaaaaay overcrowded, no fights, mixed music. Okay so here is the kicker: 1. if you are white and go in the doors on the right they give you a reg. wristband and a vip wristband so you can go to the 3rd floor. 2. if you are black, they just give you the reg. wristband and then when you attempt to go to the 3rd floor they tell you that you don't have the proper wristband. 3. if you are black and you ask for a wristband for the 3rd floor, as you are paying to get in they tell you that the 3rd floor is invitation only;however, they DON'T have a guest list. Now we used to go to this club all the time (especially to the 3rd floor), so something has obviously changed in the last couple of months. The first time I experienced this kind of racism, I thought it was a fluke. We went in thru the doors on the right (where most ppl go to go to the 2nd or 3rd floor) and after we paid and went up the staircase leading to the 3rd floor we were stopped and told that we couldn't because we didn't have the proper wristband. The second time....we got down to beale just as it was closing. They start kicking ppl off beale and stop letting ppl on at 3a.m. However, when we told the cop turning ppl away from beale that we were headed to club 152 which doesn't close until 5 a.m., he told us to just take the back alley and that they let ppl in the back door once beale shuts down. So a crowd of white ppl are already headed that way. By the time we get down there we see them going up the back staircase entering the 3rd floor. When we got to the door man, he said that the 3rd floor was invitation only. So I'm thinking...... why would the club keep renting out the 3rd floor on sat. night when they can make the most money. Hmmmmmmmmm............ The third incident-When we got to the club it was only about midnight. We went to the doors on the right, they told us the cost for admission. This time we told them that we were going to the 3rd floor so that we could make sure we had the "proper wristband", and we were told by the door man that it was invitation only. Wait a minute...... what are the chances that this would happen 3 times in a row?! So my huband ask, how do you know that we aren't on the list? *Crickets* I say, "so you mean to tell me that someone rented out the whole 3rd floor"? *CRICKETS* Then he says well you aren't properly dressed. I look down and I have on a black dressy pants suit, and no one that I'm with has on white tees, ball caps, tennis shoes or anything inappropiate. We actually look dressed to go anywhere nice...... so by this time I'm really confused. So my husband leaves and goes to the door on the left (which is mainly used if you are planning on just going to the 1st floor). After he explains everything to one of the door men over there, he says well I can help you get up to the 3rd floor for $10 more pp. Huh?! I thought it was a private party?!

CLUB 152 IS A RACIST CLUB! My husband and I went there this weekend and they only let black people on the 2nd floor where all the rap and hip-hop is. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with that, but my husband who is black, got a different color wristband than I did and paid $20 for it. When we tried to get on the 3rd floor, they told my husband he didn't have the right wristband and that he wasn't invited? INVITED???? I paid $20 for him to get in, that is s#*! !!!! So, we left and took our business elsewhere! They ruined our whole night and lost us as customers!!!

Gotta agree with an earlier review, this place is a horrid example of segregation that still plagues this nonsense called the mid-south. First floor is the okay floor w/ a live band until a certain time and it's not too crowed. The second floor should have a warning sign posted "enter at your own risk". You'd swear the floor is going to cave in from underneath you since it be so crowded. I'm surprise they can allow that many people into such a horribly tight space. If you like a thuggish atmosphere, a severe lack of diversity, a possible life-threatening situation, and 100 degree heat due to the crowd and lack of space then go to this floor. The third floor is the mystery floor left to invitees only. No doubt the earlier review is correct that this is where the white people probably with a little more class escape to. The space is so small that the staff is constantly needing to herd you along like cattle though there's nowhere left to go. The lack of diversity is sad and may just be a mid-south thing in general. The only thing I'll give this club is it's bartender staff, they were some of the best I've seen! Other than that it seems that there's no such thing as enjoying a good club experience in Memphis. I've had better times in smaller cities and that's saying something
