| About: | At Sekisui Midtown, sushi chefs don't just push the envelope; they put the envelope through the paper shredder. Chefs are encouraged to show off their creativity and listen to customer's ideas, creating sushi rolls that can't be found anywhere else. Also, purists will be delighted with the exhaustive lineup of nigiri sushi - perfectly sliced fish atop a mound of rice seasoned with vinegar, sugar and a touch of sake. The restaurant's fresh fish is flown in several times a week from locations such as Hawaii, Louisiana, and Los Angeles. There's something to please everyone. The extensive menu covers lots of familiar Japanese cuisine territory with teriyaki, tempura and udon noodles. Lively and noisy might not be typical descriptions of most Japanese restaurants, but the words fit Sekisui Midtown. As it is always full of familiar faces, Sekisui is a popular neighborhood hang-out. |

They've remodeled the old "boats" into a somewhat modern lighted space with lower fish cases that allows a better view behind the sushi bar. The best choice for sushi in midtown by far. still a good convenient choice... though not the most traditional.
Fun Sushi: Midtown convenience combines with sushi boats floating by for a fun lunch or happy-hour... presentation usually isn't as good as original location (non japanese itamae) but it's fun and convenient.... AND... on our last visit the boats were shut down... but the sushi was still good.
One good tip for Sekisui visitors is to grab the local "Coupon Books" and you'll find that each Sekisui has a 2 for 1 deal... so a single visit pays for the rest of the book.
it's ok: my 7 yr odl loves going there for the boats. The fish is very hit and miss. Sometimes it is fresh and sometimes it tastes like it has been sitting for a few days. I prefer going to Do on Cooper for fresh sushi.
