| About: | This always-popular restaurant has a lot to offerpleasant atmosphere, good service and plenty of old favorites on the menu. Popular items include the hot artichoke dip and the baby back ribs. The grilled fish with rice or baked potato and salad is a well-executed standard. The hamburgers are large and luscious, and the homemade soups and salads make great lunches or starters. Houston's demonstrates what fern bar decor should becomfortable, attractive tables and banquets, good lighting, and enough plants to add life and soften the edges. The atmosphere and the fast, pleasant service are just right for office workers out for lunch and friends meeting for dinner before the movie. |

A Memphis favorite that is always busy. Food is very good, service is excellent, and the music always relaxing. Best Veggie Burger hands down...get it on the wheat bread. Plus, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on tap scores high in my book.
The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Although a few occasions the wait staff will ignore you sometimes if you're on the cell phone. Call ahead on weekends or 1and1/2 hr wait at least. I think they judge you on your appearance so if you're black or not dressed up look out
This is my third visit to the Houston Location in Memphis. The other's I've visited are elsewhere and mostly in California. Alittle disappointed with this one in Memphis due to the lack of organization on the weekend or when it's crowded. They really should take reservations for dinner. I avoid it on weekend nights but will try once again before I find another favorite place in Memphis.

Yeah talking on a cell phone at the table is not only disrespectful but rude to the server, they're busy and dont have time to wait for you to finish talking so they just come back when youre off the phone! (It says on the menu "No Cell Phones in the Dining Room") And noone judges anyone for being "black" or "not dressed up," they all walk out with about 150-200 a nite in tips so a few "charity" tables a week are ok! Everyone gets the same service- black, white, red, green, etc. i dont know one SINGLE person of the 125 employess who is stereotypical. They're all sophisticated enough to look past the color of someone's skin it is 2008! Times change. ALWAYS have to pull the Race Card in Memphis though, it never fails!!!
