I had previously seen great reviews for Madidi so while visiting the Delta area with my sisters I made reservations. We had to wait to get seated, and once we were seated it didn't take long for the waiter to take our order, but after that it went down hill. I ordered the fixed menu that included a salad and a wine with each section of the meal. I had to ask for the wine when I get the salad, and had to ask for the wine that came with the entree. The salad was good, but it took an extremely long time for us to get the entrees.
When I did get the steak it was tough even though the middle was pink. The waiter didn't even ask my sisters if they needed anything or if they wanted anything to drink. I finally waved down the waiter and asked to see the manager. She offered to replace the steak, but by this time I had lost my appetite. I commented about the lack of attentiveness from the waiter and she made some goofy comment that because I had gotten an appetizer it threw off the sequence of the orders in the kitchen delaying our entree. I was then offered the dessert, but all I wanted to by this time was just to leave. The manager did comp my meal, but I paid for my sisters meals.
Maybe I was expecting too much, but for the prices charged for meals at this time I expected a much more professional staff and better service. I made a comment the next day to an antique shop across the street from Madidi and she said that they were trying to use the staff from Ground Zero as backfill for the normal staff and she had heard complaints about service.
So, my advice is not to go to Madidi in the early parts of the week.
