My husband I went to the Crystal Grill tonight for the very first time and we loved it!! You get lots of food for your money! First off, when you walk in, the front part looks like a little diner or something, but when you walk to the back it's totally different. The lights were low, candles on every table, a full bar and soft music playing. We started off with a half dozen of the hot tamales which were amazing! I had the fried oysters and hubby had the crab and shrimp newburg casserole, both were to die for! We both had baked potato and a salad. We finished off our meal with a slice of coconut and choclate pie...both were so so, but may have been to due to us being stuffed! So, we had an appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 teas and 2 slices of pie and a basket of rolls, all for the whopping price of $32!! You can't beat that and it was delish!!
WOW! This place has some awesome food! If you want to get to know some locals and enjoy a great lunch or dinner this is definately the place to go. Just listen in on the next table's conversation and you are sure to be entertained. I lunched here a few weeks ago, and even though I was alone, I felt like a participating member of the dining room. The Crystal Grill is casual dining at its best. The food is wonderful, and you can order anything from wonderful salads to a great filet (wonderful quality-as good as any Chicago steakhouse) to fresh seafood. I had the luxury of speaking with the owner who was quite the charming fellow. The restaurant has been in his family for decades, and he has actively led the restaurant to all of its success today. This place is really what you want to show the big guys in the city who try and hype up a new restaurant paying more attention to the interiors by Kelly Wearstler and less to the food. The servers are definately locals, and I could have watched their interactions for hours. This place is true local flavor and the kind of place you would love to have around your corner!
Uhh! Where should I start The food was okay . I enjoyed the shrimp, Im a seafood person!! but the atmosphere was horrible. T.
