Cock of the Walk is a great place to bring visitors to the Jackson area. The place has great ambience perched on the water at the Madison-County end of the Ross-Barnett Reservoir. The tiny menu includes only two entree items--catfish and chicken--along with typical southern sides--fries, a pot of greens, onions, fried pickles. The dinners are brought out on big tin trays (the smallest one feeds two easily--with leftovers) and drinks are served in tin mugs. They also serve freshly-made cornbread, which waiters in full keel-boat costume bring to your table in an iron skillet, flipping the little round loaves when they get to you (always fun to watch). I suspect the tartar sauce they serve with the catfish is home-made--it's full of fresh herbs and delicious!
THE BEST EVER!!! SUCH GREAT FRIED CATFISH AND FRIED DILL PICKLES. MY CHILDREN LOVE WATCHING ALL THE DUCKS OUTSIDE.
So good! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! Very entertaining place, excellent food, wonderful service!
