| About: | Fine dining comes in many forms, and one of Jackson's homegrown opportunities can be found right downtown on Congress Street. Open during the week for lunch only, this handsome cafe offers hot down-home grub to both the upscale capital crowd and to more blue-collar types. Choose from a list of healthy and relatively standard sandwiches and soups, or go local with an order of fried green tomatoes. The sisters' reputation is well established in town, however, so it is a usually a good idea to go early in the lunch hour. |

I grew up in Jackson but have lived elsewhere for almost 20 years now. I just so happened to be back there during Father's Day, and the family wanted to treat me to lunch, so my Mom suggested Two Sisters. I am STILL thinking about that place! I haven't found anyplace in TX that comes close. The food was terrific! It was definitely home-cooked style, not the pre-made type from a food service company. The country fried steak was so tender, I didn't even need a knife. Not only is it smothered in gravy, it's cooked in it too (that's why it's so tender). And there was plenty of white meat chicken on the buffet. There were plenty of vegetable offerings as well, so you're bound to find something you like. It gets a little crowded in the front room with the waitress stand and buffet line there, but hey, this is the South y'all, where folks are friendly so you don't mind standing shoulder-to-shoulder with them. So what if the place is in an old house - I prefer the genuine atmosphere over the stale, manufactured "character" you find in most eateries nowdays. I'm going back to Two Sisters every chance I get!
Everyone raves about the fried chicken at Two sisters, so I decided to give it a try. I'd say my experience was okay at best. The chicken was decent, but honestly, I've had better at Popeye's or KFC.
The food was great, but I find it strange that they have the buffet table right as you walk in the door.
