I agree with what everybody else has said about Illuminations. This place is filled with drama and the people are not friendly. The instructors are always quitting. The dancers who are friendly do not stay. The people who do tend to hang around are very close knit, and some of the women are extremely rude. I tried some other community dance events and when I returned I was given nasty looks and ignored at the dance socials by both the dancers and the owner. A very strange, overall hostile environment. I would not recommend it at all.
Used to go: I used to go there but all the friendly people disappeared. It's just noisy college kids and stuck-up old people. When they figure out you don't have lots of money, the snooty owner-guy ignores you
DON'T GO!: I took a beginner class with my boyfriend and once they found out we werent loaded down with cash we were ignored. We went to a few socials and after being ignored he stopped going. Later I gave up too. I saw where people with PhDs and whatever were given the royal treatment. I was told the owner has them going to competitions that cost thousands of dollars and they take lots of expensive private lessons from him every week. I was made to feel worthless. I read where ballroom dance schools rip people off and target mid-life crisis women. I think this place does the same thing because these women he spends all his time with are OLD and they look REALLY GROSS in these too tight revealing expensive dresses covered in rinestones that people my age should wear, but dont because we have CLASS.

i don't want to take up for this studio. i'm sure this girl felt shuned. but the fact is, the teachers are there to make money. not friends. They don't dance to make people happy, they dance to put food on the table. i am a freelance teacher. and i plan on going to this studio for a social dance while i'm visiting town. and i plan on making up my own mind about it. As for the class bit... well someone with class wouldn't have said things based on her ego being insulted.
