Service was bad - we were seated immediately but had to wait 15 minutes before someone noticed us and then they played it off. They did give us a desert for free. Food was bland, had to ask for salt for steak, cheese sauce was on the bottom of the seafood chimmey - therefore the chimmey had no flavor and the only crabmeat was on top (about a teaspoon) and it was cold found about two shrimp the rest of the vegetables were unidentifiable.
Then we were charged twice on our credit card - still trying to find out what that is about - not even the same amount.
The atmosphere was not worth $90.00 for two people.
I really hope no one considers this place "fine dining." They're clearly trying to pull off that label with the decor and prices, but the food left a lot to be desired. I admit, the decor and atmosphere are very nice.
However, the food was just average. I got the crab cake appetizer ($8). My girlfriend thought crab cake was a mis print because it was singular, but sure enough, they brought out one, medium sized crab cake. It was good, but not $8 good. I got the crab stuffed red fish I believe. There wasn't any stuffing involved. There were 2 or 3 pieces of crab sitting beside the fish in some sauce. The flavor was good but again, not like $25 good. The portion was too small for that.
My girlfriend got chicken alfredo. I asked her what it tasted like, and she said, "nothing." I thought she was joking, but I tasted it. It really had no taste. I guess they were out of salt and any other spices that night.
Needless to say, we did not order desert.
So yeah, this place was definitely a waste of money considering that Hattiesburg has plenty of other options. I had been to Chesterfields for lunch once before, and I wish I had gone there for dinner this night.
Also, before someone reading thinks I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to restaurants, I've been to nice restaurants and spent a lot of money in places that aren't rip offs in cities like New York, Chicago, Boston, Houston, and San Diego.
Excellent place to have delicious local food! This is more of what Hattiesburg needs. The quality here is great! I will always keep coming! The white chocolate bread pudding is the best!
