One of Columbus' secrets since the lines to get in can be 15 people deep and we don't want to add to it with visitors. lol.
If you want steak, this is the place to go. If you want anything else, go somewhere else since steak is all they do. The menu lists steaks and steak only. Each plate comes with a salad and a potato. That's it. Simple and done right. Service is ok but you may have to call out to the waitress for tea refills.
Crowded, dark, loud. WORTH IT. A trip to Columbus without going to Old Hickory is a wasted trip.
Thanks to all the great reviews you guys have posted. I have worked at Old Hickory for two years now, and it's a very excellent place.
Good steaks, the best locally. However, we find it comical how they bring you a salad (EVEN WHEN YOU DON'T ORDER ONE) and then tack a charge for it on your bill. It's plain to see on the menu that there's a charge for the salad (iceberg and more iceberg) so we don't order it. BUT, here it comes and we're charged for it. Another discerning fact is that they prepare the plates within inches of the cash register and where people are checking out "breathing all over your plate." The register and checkout line should be well away from food prep area.

You don't go to a place like Old Hickory to worry about whether the cash register is close to the grill. Bottom line is the steaks are unbelievable! Jeez, go back to whatever big city you live in and leave more of the best steaks in the world to us "country folk" who haven't seemed to have gotten sick from a little breath.
