Xaviers Restaurant & Lounge

Xavier's is the best place in Bardstown for a quiet (and romantic) atmosphere. The staff have ALWAYS been helpful and pleasant! This restaurant is one of those secrets that everyone should know about when visiting. To top it off.....take a carriage ride!

I had dinner with a gentlemen as a blind date on Valentine's Day at Xavier's, and I couldn't have asked for a better meal! It was absolutely the best steak I have ever eaten, even though our reservations were for 9 because they had been so busy all night. My date's food was equally as good. Afterwards, at the bar, one of the Zarbo Brothers was putting on a jolly good show for a crowded room of partiers. I just wish there had been a dance floor to boogy down, but there is not room in the bar for that. It was wall to wall people enjoying the music and having a great time.
This place is certainly not closed! It is going strong and I am glad of it! I hope to return soon! I am most particular about where I eat out and hate chain restaurants. This is in a historic building in a lovely historic town that has the uniqueness about it that you don't get in "chain places." You go, Xavier's!

The food was acceptable, the service was not. My party of four walked in at 7:20 p.m., was served appetizers at 8:05, and didn't receive the main courses until 8:48!! When our meals arrived, one of the patrons requested steak sauce. Ten minutes later, the sauce had not arrived, so I spoke with the manager. All he told me was that they were "really busy" (4 out of 12 tables in our room were occupied) and "there was nothing anyone could do about it." Our waitress told us that there was a large party that was slowing things down, even though another party who walked about 30 minutes after us under her service received their food long before we did. My party was a prom group. Yes, I am a teenager, but the service was unacceptable. 90 minutes for a meal that should have taken 30-45 to prepare is not acceptable. I wouldn't have cared if I didn't have some place to be afterwards, but as it stands, we were mistreated.
