Once I attended a performance here and will not go again. Beautiful facility. Top notch acts. Unfortunately, the theater is more interested in selling beer during the performances. The aisles are like the freeway at rush hour during the show. Too bad.
A Must See: The Louisville Palace is a wonderful place to visit. It is hard to describe the interior but it takes your breath away. The ceiling is great and gives you the feeling you are not alone...and let's face it..there are 27 bathroom stalls downstairs!!
You enter the auditorium and it really does remind you of a palace. I truly enjoyed my recent visit there to see and hear Etta James and would love the opportunity to return.
The Louisville Palace Theater: I have lived in Louisville almost 9 years and had never been to the Louisville Palace. I'm glad I finally made it.
Coming into the lobby you're immediately struck by the ornate design, multitude of colors, artistic forms, and shapes in every direction.
From the floor to the walls to the ceiling you will quickly realize that this theater is a unique and wonderful National Treasure.
Like at the great Paris Opera House, I wished I could get a guided tour to learn of the legends, stories and history of this remarkable landmark.
There are replicas of great Italian sculptures including Da Vinci's David, among others. The arch in the main lobby has numerous unique bust sculptures inlaid in the ceiling.
Within the interior of the theater, a deep cobalt blue ceiling creates an impression you're outdoors on a serene summer's evening. When they turn on the strobe lights during the performace, it feels like you're under a canopy of stars.
