| About: | A popular downtown lunch spot, Pesto's serves up tasty Italian fare in an eclectic atmosphere. The restaurant evolves from its fast paced nature to a quiet dining experience on the weekends, serving two cuisines in one, Italian as well as a unique Persian.( Friday and Saturday nights). On Weekends sit down and you're immediately treated to a plate of steaming pita, onion, feta cheese and butter sprinkled with fresh herbs. Don't fill up, since appetizers are large and entrees larger. Homemade yogurt comes with mint and cucumber or dried garlic, each good on the pita. Kashke bademjan, silky pureed eggplant with garlic and mint, is also good with the bread, but also with the pillowy basmati rice that accompanies it. Lamb comes in several forms, all tender and juicy. It's at its simplest marinated with lime and skewered over rice. Beef eaters will moan over the Pesto's soltani, marinated in lime and onion, served with rice. Regulars love the Bastani, a pistachio, Saffron ice cream Indulge yourself in a cup of Persian tea or a glass of red wine. |

User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWOW! We recently moved to Louisville and have been searching for some great food and we finally found it here! It was great to eat out and not leave the restaurant disappointed. We were really impressed with the menu and had a difficult time trying to limit what we ordered. We aren't fans of chain restaurants and really like supporting local businesses and Pesto's makes it easy because I wanted to go back the next day. We ordered from the Persian side of the menu but I will definitely try the Italian next time. We got their homemade ice cream for dessert and it was fantastic. The staff was very nice and helpful. The other patrons were excited to be there too. I kept asking people what they had ordered as their food was brought out because it smelled so amazing - not that I wasn't happy with what I ordered (Cornish Hen with walnut and pomegranate sauce - LOVED IT!!) - I just wanted ideas for next time. The people that were next to us come there so often that they didn't even need menus to order. It was very reasonably priced and we can't wait to go back. We don't eat out very often because I love to cook - so when we do go out I want to have something I couldn't easily make at home. This fit the bill. We will definitely become regulars. WE LOVED IT!!!!

Good stuff: Very good italian...I have only been there during lunch though. The portions are huge!
