I've been living in the area for over 5 years now and I call Joe's my home. I've tried the competition and it doesn't come close to the authenticity Joe's serves up. The food served there is always consistently good. I usually get a combo plate with crawfish etouffee, red beans and rice and gumbo. It hits the spot! Joe does an all you can eat at lunchtime with the cajun entrees and it is a gut buster. I hear his catfish is the best in town and I've had the gator tail and fried crawfish tails too. Man, it's all good. You will usually see Joe there himself or his wife and they definitely take pride in their work. I think they've been there about 15 years so I know they are doing something right. OH, and they got some of the coldest beer in town at their little bar. It's a really nice set up. I don't know how you could go wrong here. Take it from a true cajun. I gua-ron-tee you'll like it!
Great Cajun in the midwest: I don't make it down here very often, since I live 120 miles away, but it's certainly worth the trip. I recommend the alligator, crawdads, oysters, softshell crab, ettoufee, pretty much everything on the menu. You must get the bread pudding for dessert, it's wonderful. I've eaten here once or twice a year for the last 10 years, and the quality and service has never let me down. The atmosphere is great too: "Welcome to the Swamp!"
