This is an attraction that lets you get close to nature, close to the Ohio River (you can run to it from the house), and appreciate the importance of rivers in life in earlier times. The house itself has been wonderfully preserved - hats off to the materials used and the workmanship. The house is not opulent by the standards of its day, but has history in it that helps you relate to the people who lived in it. Above all, our narrator was splendid - Renee Butterworth. She was full of the joy of living and the joy of telling the story of the estate. She personally knew several of the descendants of the families of the house and could add her own stories. The grounds are peaceful and you can wander around to your heart's content undisturbed since there were hardly visitors around. You can top it off by carrying your food basket and rustling up an old-fashioned picnic on the grounds.
