User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!: I didn't know what to expect when I first walked into the Gumbo Ya Ya's location in the S. Broadway area but I quickly got into the swing of things as I looked around at all of the decor'--New Orlean style. Jazz music was playing, so I took a place at the bar since I was alone and didn't want to take up a whole table. Before I sat down, they were calling my name--I like the name calling, kind of makes ya' feel special. I had a 1/2 and 1/2 plate so I could sample two different sauces at the same time. AHHHHH now that is what I am talkin' about..so good it'll make your tongue slap its brains out trying to get to it! I GUUUUARRRANTE! I finished my whole plate which I didn't think I could do because it was such a large portion for such a small price--ANOTHER BONUS! I thought my friends would like to taste some samples when I went back to work, so the guy behind the counter--Greg I think "cute too"--offered me samples to take back with me. I grabbed some menus on my way out and the office hasn't been the same since. We all try and eat at Ya Ya's at least twice a week. I live over on the South end of town so I can even grab a plate of Gumbo for dinner at my house when I stop by the Tates Creek Center to pick a few needed items. Don't change a thing--except add more locations!
User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsGumbo YAAAAY!: Gumbo Ya Ya provides excellent food for a very affordable price. The menu rotates, so you never know exactly what is going to be available day to day, but that provides some much needed surprise and variety to dining out.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOH YEAH: I love this place. My buddy, Chris, and I go there about once a week. My favorite thing on the menu is the Yatwich - a pulled turkey sandwich with tons of taste. The only thing you need to worry about is if it's on the menu. I love it so much that sometimes I leave there without eating if it's not on the menu. My other faves are the chili cheese etoufee the peanut sauce.

this food was nasty and I should know i come from louisiana and have eaten cajun all my life. I would not recommend my dog to go there and eat
