ok, but i've had much better: let's start with the ambiance... the location used to be Cobblestone restaurant when i was a kid, and still looks like a medieval castle... kinda neat to see, but odd knowing that you will soon be eating Thai. next, the service... it was quite slow both times i tried this place. it's one thing to be like that when you are slammed... but both times there were only 2 other people. as for the food the Thai is bland (even when you ask for spicy... btw, they don't used the standard 1-10 that most Thai places use). The Chinese that they serve is so-so. As for value, when you consider all the other things I take issue with, I consider the value level low. For the price you pay, you don't get anything extra (egg roll, soup, etc).
I will add two things.... 1) the Chicken Phad Thai "looked" great last time I went... the presentation was great. and 2) I haven't had their buffet yet, and I'm told it's pretty good.
I admit, I'm a Thai junkie... I will probably give this place one more try (probably the buffet). I've had Arloi Dei downtown, Lemon Grass by Rookwood, and my current fav Thai Taste on Crookshank. All of which have superb Thai food in comparison to Siam Orchid. It is my greatest hope that they will improve their food and service, and the rest will fall in line. (It's also my greatest hope because they are 5 minutes from my house!)
