I ate here with 3 others on Tuesday April 7, 2009. Very friendly, the waiter was very nice and took our orders quickly. My problem was the food. Starting with my drink, I ordered ice tea with lemon. It was so weak I had to change to a Coke. I ordered first the tortilla chips with salsa and cheese dip...very good. We all shared and cleaned the plate. For my main I ordered the chicken quesadilla and tried the potato soup. The chicken was overcooked and very dry it came with some shredded lettuce on the side but needed the good salsa that was with the chips. I didn't finish that. The soup was very tasty but I had to search to find the potatoes. The prices were very good for lunch. My first visit here but it wasn't what I had expected based on what I had heard.
My wife, 3 year old daughter, and I went this weekend on the recommendation of my aunt. I was very disappointed with the service, food, price, and environment.
Service:
Our server stopped in the middle of taking our orders to read and respond to a text message on his phone. My daughter saw a kid at another table coloring, so I asked the server (twice) for a kids menu and crayons, but he never brought them.
Food:
I was very disappointed with the food. The wife and I both got the steak + chicken tenders combination plate. Our steaks were overcooked, and the chicken tenders were floating in some liquid (maybe from the green beans?) which made 1 side of them very soggy. Soggy breaded chicken. Yuk! We also didn't care much for the side items.
Price:
For casual, inexpensive dining, it was expensive. Our meal cost over $50. We eat out a lot, and I don't mind spending money on good food, but this wasn't good food.
Environment:
There was a table next to us of some rift rafts loudly carrying on some unpleasant conversations (drugs, sex, vulgarities, etc). Some people might not feel comfortable surrounded by these type of people.
Overall, I would rate this restaurant a D-, poor in every area. We have no plans to return. Even if someone gave us a gift certificate, I would probably sell it on Ebay.
We have been dining at Cheddars for several years; ordering the spasagna and hickory smoked baby back ribs. We have notice a slow downward trend in quality. Today will be our last meal with Cheddars for sometimes. It is a pity since we live so near!
