Ira is a really nice Ol gent. I went in to get my pomp trimmed up and Ira way exceeded my ecpectations. I guess I should have expected more since Ira has had a barber shop for 40 yrs. He took his time and did it right. Ira's is a true vintage barber shop, I will now be a regular. -Wade-
Top Notch: Ira's Barber Shop is one of those old fashion shops like you would see in an old time painting. The shop is run by a father and son team. The father, Ira, is a gentleman among gentlemen. He loves UK Basket Ball. The clock on the wall and the poster size UK schedule will tip you to that idea.
His son, Chris, is a laid back fellow who could talk your ear off about martial arts. He can also cut a tight Fade as well as free hand some intricate designs in the side or back.
Between the two of them you wont see a finer Flattop cut anywhere.
If you want to watch or hear the latest in sports, this is the place to be. It is first come first serve with walk in service. You can come in and sit around shooting the breeze, get your hair cut, have a Coke from a 50+ year old Coke machine, and watch TV in the most laid back and friendly atmosphere you could ever imagine.
Oh and did I mention that they do full Facial Shaves with a straight edge and steam towels? Well Thats right. You can get laid back in the chair, lathered up, steamed up, and shaved. They also do an Outline Shave on your haircut. It really makes those areas around the ears and the back of the neck look really tight.
The price for a haircut is $10. A Flattop or Spike costs $11. A Beard Trim is $5 and a Facial Shave is $10. Trimming a mustache is free and so is a Scalp Massage. If that isn't enough of a pampering, when you are done you can step next door to The Pepper Pod and treat yourself to some good home cooking.
This barbershop is truly a living Normal Rockwell painting.
