Every time I been here I've had excellent service and excellent food, the sweet tea was just right the food was a nice change from the usual fair, while it's not true Caribbean food it wasn't bad. The prices where reasonable for the quantity, perhaps a little high for some folks but overall I was happy with it. I'd go back in a minute and I'd take friends. The Hula Burgers were very good and the rice dishes were cooked just right too.
It is sad that there is a restaurant with such unbelievable food and the service is less than acceptable. We have been here a few times and continue to have the same problems...no waitress for 10 minutes upon sitting...no refills on drinks...cold black bean soup and no waitress to return to kitcken....Why bother? When I go out to eat I would like to have some service or i can just order out. It is a shame becasue we eat out 2-3x a week but not here due to their poor service.
the food was completely inedible, i got a pasta dish with chicken; named something like, "amazon rumble in the jungle". the menu said it had a Parmesan cream sauce and a red tomato sauce. it tasted like they plopped an entire package of Philadelphia cream cheese on top of some noodles, sprinkled a little parmesan cheese on top, then poured a disgustingly sweet tomato sauce; excuse me..."Amazon sauce"...on top. The red sauce was completely dominated by a sickeningly sweet taste. It was like the opened a can of pre-made marinara sauce and dumped in a pound of sugar. It was completely disgusting. I was literally gagging after i first tried it with the "cream" sauce and the "amazon" sauce mixed together. I tried to flip the noodles over to see if i could get any with out the sauce on it, and there was like 2 cups of water in the bottom of the bowl, as if they didn't even drain the pasta.
As I was driving home I continued to gag when ever I thought about the fact that I actually ate a bite of that sauce.
The chicken was completely over cooked. It was so dry that I literally counted the number of chews it took to try to swallow it; I got to 60 and it was still so dry that I had to swallow it with a drink of Coke; and my throat still feels scratchy as I type this from swallowing the chicken; it was so dry it hurt my throat.
I also got an appetizer, we asked the waitress what the most popular app. was; and ordered what she recommended. i can't remember the name but it was nachos with a cheese sauce with bacon and chicken and what seemed like every other kind of meat product you can think of mixed in. it was overwhelmingly salty and I feel sick to my stomach that I actually ate some of it. It quite literally looked like what a mother bird regurgitates into a baby birds mouth..weird bits of meat and a slimy cheese sauce. We ate there 2 hours ago and my stomach still feels nauseous when I think about the fact that we ate some of that dip.
my wife got "calypso coconut chicken strips" they were generic chicken strips that didn't even remotely taste like coconut. it was supposed to have a "tangerine" dipping sauce but it just tasted like pure honey; maybe a slight hint of citrus...but mostly just pure honey.
the only decent thing about the place were the fries, they seemed like hand cut, home made fries. average at best..
This was honestly one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I am ALWAYS a clean plater, my wife usually makes fun of me because I eat so much, but I literally ate 3 bites food before I couldn't stomach anymore.
I am very angry that i spent 40 bucks at this place. I will NEVER under any circumstances eat at this establishment again. I have NEVER written an online review for a restaurant before; but this experience was SO unbelievably bad that I felt like I had to do something...
